Vision Net Africa is a non-profit organization focused on promoting good governance and democracy in Africa by undertaking education and training programs and conducting research to create governance models based on Anthropogenic and holistic perspectives to fit the African setting to address the social and development challenges in Africa.
Vision Net Africa was founded by Habiru Tahiru in consultation with young professionals across Africa with diverse backgrounds who envisage an Africa no longer dependent on foreign aid, an Africa free from poverty, corruption, social injustice, exclusion, insecurity, gender inequality, illiteracy, dictatorship, environmental disaster, and Africa eventually free from its current social and development crisis.
The organization is focused on poverty reduction, gender equality and climate change and aims to create awareness about participatory democracy and good governance as a key to Africa's development, and to partner with governments, civil society organizations, local authorities, NGOs, and donor agencies to design and implement tailored and resilient forms of governance that combine economic development, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion to achieve sustainable development in Africa.
Our education and training programs aim to educate Africans about democracy and basic democratic principles. This will help in promoting political tolerance, and political participation, and reduce political violence in the continent.
Our good governance (holistic governance) campaign in the short-term focus on promoting online governance in Africa while working with stakeholders to develop government models through complex approaches suitable for the African setting to improve governance in Africa and to encourage local initiatives and government accessibility to address the problem of exclusion, patrimonialism, clientelism among other bad governance practices to reduce poverty and political insecurity in the continent.
Our organization offers a unique service by going beyond the usual research into Africa's problems to providing a solution to address them.
The campaign for democracy and good governance project (Gogo Africa) is a major and integral component of our program, targeting the public, governments, large government organization, international and local NGOs, civil society organizations, donor agencies, and private organizations to address democracy and governance crisis in Africa.
The organization will provide free training programs and accessible information on democracy and good governance throughout Africa whiles researching to design governance models for Africa
By 2030 we plan to consistently work with all African states, international organisations and NGO's to create new governance models that appeal to the needs of the public. We advocate for holistic and complex approaches, through the promotion of online governance, governments organisations integration and the creation of active civil services.
Habiru Tahiru will function as director of the organisation. The main focus will be on developing the Africa Good governance campaign, and on recruiting other members of the staff for the first couple of years.
